Urban Tree Trimmings
According to surveys of our clients, urban tree trimmings (branches and trunks removed during the maintenance of green areas) are a valuable and practically free feedstock for biochar production. Many municipal organizations are themselves interested in ensuring that this material is not sent to landfills but instead finds a useful application. As a result, the feedstock is available at zero cost, which makes it particularly attractive for processing.
When tree trimmings are carbonized in SPSC equipment, the resulting biochar has stable physical and chemical properties. This product can be used for soil improvement, long‑term carbon sequestration and as a raw material for sorbents. This approach makes it possible to achieve several goals at once: the recycling of urban biomass, the reduction of landfill volumes, the decrease of CO₂ emissions and the production of a valuable carbon‑rich material.
